Boathouse, situated in the historic West End neighborhood of Foggy Bottom, Washington, D.C., is a 10-story property that has been transformed into a mixed-use building. The renovation included the incorporation of 250 apartments and 5,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor.

Previously known as the Howard Johnson Hotel and later repurposed as a dormitory for George Washington University students, Boathouse recently underwent a comprehensive renovation and expansion.

FMC played a crucial role in the project by providing structural design services for the renovation. The scope of work involved significant modifications to both the interior and exterior of the building. Furthermore, an additional section was added, extending the building perimeter to the property line. During the construction process, various tasks such as underpinning, additional demolition, and reinforcements were undertaken as the existing architectural layers were removed.
