1622-1634 N. Capitol St NW
Location: Washington, D.C.
Owner: The Maedwell Companies
The project consists of a new hotel development by the Maedwell Companies, at 1626, 1634, and 1644 North Capitol St. The project entails the conversion of the existing firehouse at 1626 into hotel rooms, as well as the construction of new four-story buildings at 1634 and 1644, including a basement and penthouse, to accommodate additional hotel rooms. In total, the hotel will offer 97 rooms, with gross square footage of 53,000.
FMC's responsibilities encompass the structural design of the project. This includes designing the three levels of wood structure on top of two levels of a concrete structure for buildings 1634 and 1644. Additionally, significant structural work is required for the existing building at 1626. The foundation system consists of isolated footings, ensuring stable support for the structures.
